Publish immediately or simmer? Ava’s 6th question
Ava asked, “Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?”
Depends on whether I have a deadline or not. But I prefer to let it simmer. In either case, I edit every step of the way. When I paste the text into Bearblog, I read the draft preview. Even after it’s published I give it another glance. Much of my work is editing text, so I give my own writings several thorough revisions.
I remember when email became available to the general public. A former professor of mine from my master’s course expressed concern about people replying in the heat of the moment. He saw it as a negative thing. Neither of use dreamed of what was to come. I’ve never forgotten his concern, so I try to take care in the use of words.
Like the text said, that I wrote about recently, “Speech that heals is like a life-giving tree, but a perverse speech breaks the spirit” Proverbs 15.4 NETB. I want to speak the healing speech, so it needs plenty of revision.
